Located on the premises of D&R’s corporate headquarters is our main warehouse facility. Its close proximity to our offices enables us to guarantee high-level security and constant monitoring of your valuable shipments day and night.

Over 20,000 sq. ft, D&R’s state-of-the-art warehouse space is government approved, heat and humidity controlled, and sprinkler-equipped. The D&R Warehouse Center provides record storage, as well as local and intra-state moving services for your long term and short term storage needs.

Once your goods arrive in our warehouse they are paper pad wrapped and safely tucked away in our storage crates. Each crate measures 7 ft x 7ft x 5ft and holds approximately 245 cu ft of household goods. This is equivalent to approximately 1200 pounds or 1 reasonably sized room of furniture and boxes.

The cost to store this container is $45.00 per month plus local sales tax, currently 8.5%. Charges are billed on a monthly basis on the first of each month for the upcoming month. Upon coming into storage your charges are pro-rated for the number of days you will be in storage the first month. Thereafter, you are charged for the month whether you remain one day or the entire month.

This is helpful information when you’re planning your move out. If by chance your days cannot be worked out we try and be as fair and flexible as possible. Our Chicago movers main concern is to provide a service to you which you will be happy with.

In addition to your monthly storage charge and tax the only additional monthly item is valuation. Once your goods are tucked away valuation costs drop to $3.00 per $1000.00 of value per month. For example, if your shipment were valued at $5000.00 for the trip in then the valuation charge would be $15.00 per month, with no deductible.

Other options are available and can be discussed in detail with your representative.

Your shipment will be subject to a warehouse handling fee which is equal to one month’s storage. For example, if you have 2 storage containers your warehouse handling charge would be $50.00 x 2 or $100.00. This is not a monthly charge and is charged to cover the cost of pulling the containers out of their slot, forklift use, sofa rack handling, etc. It is not subject to sales tax.
